Sweedse bezoekers bij de Watervogelbond

Thank you Kenneth to bring your Swedish friends to The Watervogelbond!

Our readers might not be used to read our reports in English, I thought it would be more friendly to our new Swedish friends if I would write my piece in English, to make sure they can read it too.

It was a lovely meeting with our collegues from Sweden. It was 8 of them who planned a visit to Kenneth Broekman in Someren. They have a longlasting friendship and share their interest in chicken and domestic geese and ducks. Robert, out chairman kindly invited them to visit his private feathered zoo. It was a good day to be outdoors, it was not to cold and a pale sunshine  was a friendly companion. After the outside tour was finished they had a break inside with a good Belgian beer and a piece of typical Limburgse Vlaai, homecooked by Toos Engelen. Thank you Toos!

The Swedish represent 2 associations, one is about chicken and turkey and the other one is about feathered animals. At the bottom of this report you will find links to their websites where you can find out more about their activities. There was to little time to exchange all information. I feel that it is neccessary to pay them a revisit and may be spend just a little bit more time with eachother. Believe me, the Swedish are really nice people.

Dinertime was planned in Brasserie De Ster in Lanaken where our personal chef Jo took good care of us with a five course menu, plenty of wine and beer.

To me personally it was a great oppertunity to practice my Norwegian. Both languages are very similar although it was a bit exciting if they would really understand me. They all were very helpful to me to find the right words and with a some english backup we managed to have a nice conversation.

All good things end with a warm goodbye and we hope to revistit you in Sweden this summer.
